So we had just about finished recording the new Fez album, Napoleon, when the the coronavirus lockdown came into force. Most of the mixing fell on the shoulders of Jerry Barker, with some help from Charlie Griffiths. We couldn’t all get into the studio at the same time so Jerry sent us all mixes and we sent back comments and then there were modifications and more versions sent out – a slow business.
But it began to occur to us that instead of releasing the album all at once, we could release individual tracks as and when they are mixed and mastered. It also meant that we could spend some time creating videos for some of the track. The first is Little By Little – not a simple matter to produce a video under lockdown conditions, but I guess it will be emblematic of these strange times.
